DISC Against Retail Crime

Retail crime, anti-social behaviour and repeat offending continue to impact town centre businesses, staff safety and community confidence.

Current challenges include:

  • Under-reporting of retail offences

  • Limited cross-business intelligence sharing

  • Poor quality CCTV/evidence submissions

  • Repeat offenders targeting multiple premises

  • Demand pressures on police resource

Introducing DISC and Waverley Business Crime Reduction Partnership

‍Godalming BID is therefore pleased to introduce the DISC (Direct Information SharingCollaboration) crime reporting system which has just launched as part of a new Waverley Crime Reduction Partnership, helping businesses work together with Surrey Police to tackle retail crime, anti-social behaviour and repeat offending.

This initiative aims to strengthen information sharing, improve evidence submission and reduce business crime across the town centre.  DISC is easy to use and can be accessed via the DISC App on your mobile device or on your web browser,  with your crime report landing directly in the Police Control Room.

It enables:

  • Incident reporting by authorised business owners and managers

  • Secure upload of CCTV and images

  • Real-time offender intelligence alerts

  • Cross-business information sharing

  • Civil banning and exclusion notices

  • Police access to evidential material

Why DISC?

‍The DISC system is auditable, permission-based and compliant with data protection legislation and its overall objectives are to reduce retail theft, identify prolific offenders, improve staff safety and increase the information flow to the police leading to better intelligence and criminal enforcement options.

‍It also has an Instant Message function which means you can quickly alert your business neighbours to criminal activity and share images or descriptions of criminals operating in the area.

Registration Process

We encourage all business owners and/or their authorised managers to register.  In the first instance please send an email request and any questions to info@godalmingbid.co.uk  including:

  • Your Name and Job Title

  • Business Name and Email Address

  • Telephone No

‍This request will then be acknowledged and forwarded to the DISC Administrator who will send you a link to sign up and create your own password.  A Quick Reference User Guide will be sent to you to get you started and there is a more detailed User Guide available on the platform, together with important documents which outline DISC rules and protocols for use.

More information on DISC can be found here:

‍The BID team also work closely with Waverley Police and useful information on how to protect your business can be found here: ‍

This BID initiative has been made possible with collaboration and grant funding from Waverley Borough Council and there is no cost to BID levy payers who wish to join the scheme.
