Events continue to bring new audiences to Godalming

Events such as the Spring Festival and ChoirBLAST play an important role in attracting visitors from beyond Godalming's immediate catchment, creating valuable opportunities for businesses across the town.

June's data provides a good example of this. During the ChoirBLAST weekend, one of the UK's largest non-competitive contemporary choir festivals, which brought together more than 100 choirs performing across 14 venues in Godalming, footfall increased significantly compared with the previous weekend, with Friday recording more than 7,000 additional visitors and Saturday almost 4,000 more.

What this means for businesses

June's visitor profile provided encouraging evidence that Godalming continues to attract visitors from beyond its immediate catchment. While local visitors remain the town's core audience, the data shows people are travelling from further afield to spend time in the town, creating valuable opportunities for businesses to reach new customers.

The quality of those visits also remains encouraging. Although average dwell time eased slightly compared with May's unusually high figure, visitors still spent considerably longer in the town than they did in June 2025.
