Halloween in Godalming with Two Free Family Activities

Following the success of last year's Halloween activities, Godalming BID is bringing more family fun to the town centre this October, with two initiatives designed to encourage footfall, support local businesses and give families more reasons to visit Godalming.

Trick or Treat in Godalming – Saturday 31 October

Following a fantastic response last year, we're once again inviting town centre businesses to take part in our Halloween Trick or Treat event on Saturday 31 October, from 10am–2pm.

Participating businesses will receive a Halloween poster to display in their windows, along with sweets to hand out to visiting trick-or-treaters. Families will be encouraged to explore the town centre, looking out for participating businesses and popping in for a sweet treat.

Last year's event saw 38 businesses get involved and contributed to a 13% uplift in town centre footfall compared with a typical Friday, demonstrating the positive impact of businesses coming together to create a shared experience.

A brand-new Halloween Headscratcher

Building on the success of our summer History Mystery trail, we're also launching a special Halloween adventure featuring Godfrey the Goose and his new friends, Maisie the Mouse and Winifred the Witch.

Running from 17 October–1 November, the free Halloween Headscratcher will invite families to follow clues around Godalming, discovering local businesses along the way as they help Winifred find her missing Halloween items.

Free trail booklets will be available from Godalming Museum, Godalming Library and Small & Mighty, with a prize draw offering the chance to win one of three cute Halloween Jellycats.

Supporting our town centre

Both initiatives form part of Godalming BID's ongoing destination marketing programme, delivered through Discover Godalming, to attract visitors, increase dwell time and encourage people to explore and support our town centre businesses.

Businesses are encouraged to help spread the word by displaying promotional materials, sharing our social media posts and telling customers about the activities.

If your business is planning any Halloween-themed offers, activities or special events, we'd love to hear about them so we can help promote them too.
